Although the current location of Wien’s Family Cellars is in Temecula it hasn’t always been that way. It originated outside of Sacramento in farm country by Doug Wien. In 2001 his brothers joined him in his efforts and Wien’s Family Cellars was born. In 2003 the family decided to move their operation to Temecula and began construction on their new winery in 2005.

As you turn off of Rancho California Road you will be met with a barn style building that is home to winery and tasting room. Wien’s Family Cellars offers a wonderful outdoor area that can be rented for events and weddings. There are three tasting areas offered; the cellar room, the barrel room (wine club members only) and the main tasting room which includes a large bar and is where we found ourselves for our tasting.

Wien’s is known for their big bold reds and during our tasting that is what we had. Our tasting included six wines that you are able to choose from their list. We choose the following six wines; Dos Melodias, Malbec, Obscura, Cabernet Sauvignon, Fourfold, and Reunion. Our favorite of the bunch was the Fourfold which offered up stewed black plum, red raspberry, strawberry, lilac and black pepper. A nice overall balance that leads to this wines elegance.
