Directly south of the town of Sonoma sits Jacuzzi Family Vineyards.  As you turn off of Arnold Drive you will be met with a gorgeous stone structure that is the winery and tasting area surrounded by the Sonoma vineyards. In 1907 when part of the Jacuzzi made their way from Italy to America the family made their way to Washington State. Eventually the family would find their way to Northern California where they started to make wine in 1936. Over that time they would cease the production of their planes after an accident took the life of one of the brothers. In 1937 Valeriano would go back to San Francisco to continue the production of well pumps and eventually what we know today as Jacuzzi tubs. Valeriano’s grandson, Fred Cline, would open the Jacuzzi Family Vineyards in honor of his grandfather.

Our visit included a tasting and a tour around the property. After entering the winery we were taken on our tour starting with the winery and the barrel room. We were then taken outside through the courtyard and into the vineyard and olive grove. After some time walking around the property we were brought back into the tasting area we began our tasting at the bar.

Our tasting included a total of five wines; Barbera, Montepulciano, Nebbiolo, Sagrantino and Sangiovese. Our favorite of the group was the Sagrantino which had dark fruit, baking spices, earth and vanilla. Full bodied with a strong tannin structure and medium plus acidity.
