Failla Winery

Located on the east side of the Napa Valley Failla Winery is located at an old hunting camp just off of the Silverado Trail a few miles north of the Duckhorn Vineyard. With there first vintage being 1998 they are one of the new kids on the block but that does not mean they don’t pack a powerful punch. With vineyards located around the Napa Valley and Sonoma they have a wine for everyone.

After turning off of the Silverado Trail the road splits, taking a left will take you to the front door of the old hunting camp that has been turned into Failla’s reception area. This quant house is filled with old trophies and a fireplace that encompasses the center of the room. Greeted with Sauvignon Blanc you will be asked to wait either in the cabin or outside on the porch that overlooks the forest, personally both are amazing but the porch is our preferred option. After the tasting was prepped we were taking back to the cave that is located just a short walk from the hunting area. The walk winds through the cave, passing barrels upon barrels of wine until we finally made it to the tasting area, a set of a few secluded tables and chairs.

The tasting included their Sonoma Coast Chardonnay, Olivet Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, Savoy Pinot Noir and Estate Syrah. Although all the wines were amazing our favorite was the Estate Syrah with notes of blackberry, plum, violet, sweet tobacco leaf, black pepper, and subtle hints of smoke and wet soil.
